FamilialFoodFinder compiles recipes from a trusted network of families and their friends. If you are an approved member of this select group, you can submit recipes that will appear on this website after a brief review.

In case you are interested, this is a static but interactive website. This design choice is unique because — as you may have noticed — FamilialFoodFinder relies on the input of its users. However, FamilialFoodFinder itself doesn't take in any user data. The submission of recipes is managed through our Google Form.
Immediately upon recipe submission, a Google Apps script converts your Form into Javascript Object Notation (JSON), a commonly-used, standardized format for readable data shared between different web applications. That JSON file is automatically uploaded as a pull request to the GitHub repository containing all of the code for this website.
After a quick manual review, that pull request is approved and becomes part of the codebase. The website code formats the recipe to look nice, adds it to the searchable list of recipes, and integrates the other usefule functions you see on this site. Merging to the codebase also triggers a redoployment of the website on its serverless hosting platform, Vercel, allowing the new recipe to be seen.
